Heart Safe Workplace Launch at The Entourage

Lunch & Learn - Save Lives

Heart Safe Australia is excited to be launching our Heart Safe Workplace lifesaving program with our Lunch & Learn Lifesaving Demonstration at The Entourage, the top Business Coaching business in Sydney.

The 1-Hour Heart Safe Workplace Lunch & Learn lifesaving demonstration is about raising awareness and education to help save a life in case of a sudden cardiac arrest out-of-hospital including the use of a defibrillator and CPR following the D.R.S.A.B.C.D. lifesaving steps.

Did You Know?

On average, 575 Australians suffering a Sudden Cardiac Arrest every week and ONLY 1 out of 10 WILL SURVIVE!

Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is an emergency where your heart stops beating or pumping blood around the body. Every minute following SCA is vital, and for every minute the heart doesn’t beat during SCA, survival rates drop significantly.  Find out more about a  Sudden Cardiac Arrest (electrical) verses a Heart Attack (circulation)

Our Heart Safe Workplace® Lifesaving Program raises awareness and education about 3-STEPS to help save a life during a Sudden Cardiac Arrest out-of-hospital and about the vital function that defibrillators (AED) can perform in potentially saving lives in workplaces across Australia.

Is Your Workplace ABLE and READY to HELP?

We find that most people:

  • ARE NOT ready and comfortable helping in a cardiac arrest or heart attack situation, often even if they have had CPR training in the past!

  • DO NOT know the difference between a sudden cardiac arrest (electrical) and heart attack (circulation) and how crucial time is during a Sudden Cardiac Arrest as a defibrillator MUST be placed on the patient ASAP.

  •  ARE NOT familiar or comfortable with the crucial D.R.S.A.B.C.D. lifesaving steps to follow during a cardiac arrest or heart attack emergency.

  •  Think knowing and doing CPR will keep a person alive until the emergency services arrive.  Yes, in case of a Heart Attack while the heart is still beating BUT NOT in case of a Cardiac Arrest as the patient is dead and a defibrillator MUST be used ASAP to restart the heart.

  • DO NOT know where the closest defibrillator is from their work and home where people spend most of their time.

Questions About Your Workplace:

  1. Is your workplace equipped with a defibrillator (Doctor in a Box) visible and available to all?

  2. Has CPR Training or Awareness Training been provided to all staff?  Is it up to date?

  3. Has a lifesaving emergency such as a heart attack or sudden cardiac arrest ever happened in your workplace?

  4. How READY would staff in your workplace be during such a lifesaving emergency?
